Tension always existed between India and Pakistan. Cross fire is not new to us. Even today we hear about these things(incidents) from time to time.
An armed conflict between India and Pakistan broke in 1999. Pakistan had infiltrated the Indian side of line of control. The Indian army initially unaware of the scale of infiltration, dismissed it as cross firing, but upon accessing the circumstances, understood the severity of the action with the launch of Operation Vijay, actual warfare started.
India was Successful in driving away the Pakistan Army. Since the Kargil war officially ended on July 26, the day was officially marked as KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS.
Around 500 Indian Soldiers lost there lives in this war.
