Hesaraghatta Lake is a man made fresh water reservoir spread over an area of 1620 hectares.

Small Bridge Across The Lake

Constructed across Arkhavathy river(which originates in the lap of Nandi Hills),the lake has been the source of drinking water to Bangalore city since 1896.
The lake was planned by the chief engineer of Mysore MC.Hutchins and Divan of Mysore Sir K. Seshadri with the plan to supply drinking water o the city.

The 35 KM long stretch of cycling trial is loved by the cyclists in the city who often take an interval at Nrityagram and then move further to reach Hesaraghatta Lake.

The spot is also known for research and development farms for poultry, animal husbandry, agriculture and horticulture.
The lake is good point of interest for bird watching,Birds like kingfisher, magpie robin, little egrets, common mynas, brahminy kites, black drongo, bulbuls, greater coucal, purple sunbird etc have been reported in and around the lake periphery.
Boating and windsurfing are the main attractions of the lake.
